The Publisher

LizStar Books was established in 2006 as a publisher of young adult books. As a small, independent publishing house, we have the luxury of focusing individually on each book we publish and of working closely with authors to develop their work. Quality is our highest priority, and we take great pains to ensure that our material is both appropriate and entertaining for our target audience. We encourage manuscript submissions, and are particularly excited to discover new, creative voices in the young adult sector.

What the Sea Wants

The Author

Tracy E. Banghart's passion for fiction began when she wrote her first story at the age of five. An inveterate bookworm and storyteller, she holds a degree in English from Davidson College and a Master of Arts in Publishing from Oxford Brookes University. Tracy drew inspiration for What the Sea Wants, her first novella, from summer visits to the coastal Maine island where generations of her seafaring ancestors made their home.

The Illustrator

A marine ecologist by trade, Julia C. Blum has had a lifelong fascination with the sea. Her interest in illustration and graphic design date back almost as far. Trained in a wide variety of media, her work emphasizes the careful use of line to create images with a classic, simple grace. She can currently be found peering into tide pools along the Northern California coast in pursuit of a doctoral degree in Ecology from the University of California, Davis.
